Megan Boyce: An inspiring story about a wife, businesswoman and mum

Some women are born to break glass ceilings. Others? They build their own empire. One baby bottle and business launch at a time. Megan Boyce is one of those women. A powerhouse mum of three, a marketing genius, and a business owner who proves that you don’t have to choose between career success and being present for your kids. You can have both. And she’s living proof.

Family First, Always

Megan’s story starts with family. Growing up as a triplet with an older sister just 18 months ahead, she was never alone. Sibling bonds weren’t just strong. They were the foundation of who she is. Her brother and sister were her built-in best friends, and her older sister took on the role of a second mum. Family is everything. When she became a mum herself, Megan knew she wanted to build a life that let her be there for every milestone, every school carnival, and every sleepy cuddle on the couch.

The Birth of a Business and a Baby!

Most people think launching a business is hard. Now, imagine doing it while pregnant. Megan did just that when she was expecting her second child, Kora.

She built her own e-commerce business from scratch. Creating the website, managing social media, sourcing products, and even handling the accounting. She did it all alone. She told us it was exhausting and exhilarating. And it was the moment she realised her love for business, marketing, and turning ideas into reality.

That passion led her to a company with multiple businesses under its umbrella. She climbed the ranks quickly, moving into marketing and leading entire brands. Eventually, she helped turn the marketing department into an agency. It was her dream job. Fast-paced, high-impact, and incredibly rewarding. But when she had her third baby, Vance, everything changed.

The Struggle Between Career and Motherhood

Before maternity leave, Megan had flexibility. She could work from home, set her own hours, and make it all work. But when she returned, those policies were gone.

Suddenly, the 9-5 grind was non-negotiable. No more school drop-offs, no more spontaneous midday snuggles, no more freedom. And that? That wasn’t the life she wanted.

So, Megan did what only the boldest women do. She bet on herself. She left behind stability, security, and a structured paycheck to build something better. A Virtual Assistant business where she could help small businesses with marketing, branding, admin, social media, and content creation. A business that let her be a mum first without sacrificing her career.

The Reality of Running a Business as a Mum

Let’s be real: It’s not all Pinterest-worthy office spaces and perfectly curated work-life balance. Megan’s days start before the sun’s up. A few hours of work before the kids wake, then the morning chaos. Breakfast, school runs, kindy drop-offs. Then, nap time equals work time. Then comes housework, pick-ups, gymnastics, after-school commitments, dinner, and then… More work.

It’s non-stop. It’s exhausting. But it’s also everything she ever wanted.

In the midst of the madness, she built something incredible. Her books filled up, her business took off, and she created a career on her own terms.

Why She Wouldn’t Change a Thing

Leaving a stable job to go out on her own? Terrifying.

But waking up every day knowing she has the flexibility to be there for her kids and build something she loves? Worth every single late-night and coffee-fuelled work session.

Megan’s story isn’t just about business. It’s about choice. About refusing to accept that women have to pick between being an incredible mum, wife and a successful businesswoman. She’s proof that you can be both.

And if there’s one thing she’d tell any other mum thinking about taking the leap? “Just start. You’re capable of more than you think.”

If Megan can build a thriving business with a husband and three little ones by her side. You can, too.
